Iris Dorton makes a full line of pottery in her downtown Guelph studio/shop at 179 Woolwich St. Her work is earthy yet contemporary, using richly-coloured stoneware clay and satin matte glazes. Concentrating on modern and timeless forms, most of the pottery could be described as minimalist or "farmhouse modern", save for the mugs and select pieces which are enhanced by simple, nature inspired motifs such as trees, mountains, birds and botanicals. The pottery is sure to enhance any decor, and is designed to complement your food presentation, not overwhelm it. Handmade place settings, with customers selecting exaclty what constitutes a place setting for them, is a specialty at Blue Iris Studios. The studio/storefront is open to the public year round.
