R.W. Studios

Greg Dehetre, operating as R.W. Studios has been offering quality hand made Sterling Silver and Gold jewelry to the Windsor and Essex county area for 8 years. Greg has a background in Business Accounting, Chemical engineering and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1990 to 1994 serving in a combat role in Desert Storm.

In 2008 Greg was making a sculpture of a tree for his daughter’s 3rd birthday. Greg found himself in a local bead store looking for crystals to finish the sculpture. While in the bead store Greg came across a book on wire wrapping jewelry, which caught his interest. The spark for a new hobby was lit, wire wrapping led to chainmaille jewelry, which in turn led to Silversmithing. Greg started this new hobby in the living room, then renovations to the garage gave him a dedicated workspace as the hobby became a small business. R.W. Studios wholesales it’s work to 23 stores across Canada, as well as retailing at many art festivals, such as Art in the Park, throughout the year. Greg is proud to have developed many new and innovative chainmaille weaves, and metal working techniques. One of the weaves Greg developed was featured in Art Jewelry magazine’s “Wirework Spring 2012” edition on page 54 and 55, crediting Greg with the weave, and giving a tutorial on how it is made.

R.W. Studios has slowly acquired many specialty tools that a metal artist needs to make jewelry, sculptures or pieces for mixed media visual arts. Greg, through R.W. Studios, is proud to have been able to collaborate on many different art projects, with several local artists over the past eight years. Greg has opened his studio to many local artists, and the general public by teaching classes in chainmaille, and metalsmithing. R.W. Studios is also open to local artist who need access to specialty tools and equipment without making a large financial investment. Greg feels fortunate to be able to make a living through his art, and is committed to helping other local artists do the same, whether it be with advice on revenue streams, budgeting, tools and space rentals, or collaboration.
