The Sculpted Sock

I've been experimenting with fabrics and textures since I was able to use a sewing machine. In 2013, I started exploring dollmaking, with a mission to create a non-creepy sock monkey, and hopes to use some of the smaller scraps of fabric I have accumulated over the years. Around this time, I had the opportunity to work with Mollie Makes, a british crafting magazine, to develop an easy make-along sock doll.

Lately, I've been exploring Waldorf-inspired natural-fibre art dolls. I like to incorporate colour and personality into each unique creation, with a belief that everyone can use a little whimsy and cute in their lives.

Along with dollmaking, I enjoy using my sewing machine to create 2D works of free-motion embroidery, or thread sketch - this uses smaller dollmaking scraps and vintage books.
