April’s passion lies in the surface of pots where imagery and mark making are explored and layered for a graphic and lyrical approach to clay. Rural roots, landscape and nostalgia permeate her work. Intimate every day objects become conduits for reflection and narrative. Forms are largely functional and sometimes sculptural using various clay bodies; porcelain, stoneware and casting slips. Explorations in surface keep her searching and learning, feeding a passion for expression and inquiry for this life long maker.
Blackbird Pottery Studio is located in the beautiful Haliburton HIghlands, and is open by appointment year round, and offers workshops and classes too!
